Mini Dental Implants for Full Dentures

The Problem with Lower Dentures

It is well known that the lower denture presents the most difficulty for patients adjusting to dentures for the first time ... or even for experienced denture wearers. It can be frustrating as you attempt to eat certain foods, or even to speak with confidence without fear that your lower denture will begin to float in your mouth.  And the major problem is that dentures will only fit worse over time, becoming more loose and causing more dentures sores the longer you have them.  The denture will actually cause your jaw bone to dissolve away over time.

The Dental Implant Solution

Dr. Strout at Advanced Periodontics and Implant Surgery has a treatment procedure called the Denture Stabilization System, often referred to as Mini Dental Implants (MDI). Essentially it is a dental implant system that in most cases can be placed and attached to your lower denture in the same visit.  Within one hour you can be on your way with a secure lower denture, and able to eat and speak much more confidently.

And most importantly, compared to traditional dental implant systems, the mini dental implant systems offered by Dr. Strout is much more affordable.

A Simple Dental Implant Procedure

The MDI system consists of a miniature titanium implant that acts like the root of your tooth and a retaining fixture that is incorporated into the base of your denture. Placement of the implants is accomplished quickly and easily in a process performed right in the office. The procedure generally takes just over 1 hour.  It is a one step procedure that involves minimally invasive surgery with no sutures nor the typical months of healing.

Mini Dental Implant Benefits

  • Eating and speaking with confidence
  • Nutritional health benefits of eating foods you haven't eaten for years
  • Convenience of not needing adhesives or pastes
  • Improved bone retention and related oral health benefits

What is the difference between mini's and full implants?

Mini dental implants are less expensive than traditional implants but they are not permanent like traditional implants.  The mini implant generally lasts an average of 5-10 years, with some longer and some less.  Traditional implants are permanent.  The other difference is that the mini implants do not hold the denture as tight as traditional implants.  The Mini is 100 times better than a denture with no implants, but they still "feel" like a denture.  With full implants the denture will feel like your original teeth.

If you have gone for a consult in the past and could not afford implants to support your full dentures, then Mini Implants may be what you need.  They will allow you to eat, laugh, and smile with confidence.  Call Dr. Strout at Advanced Periodontics and Implant Surgery today (or fill out the contact me form on the Home Page) to schedule your FREE dental Implant Consultation!
